I have a 2 yr old Dell 266 that has a built in yamaha sound board.  I
disabled it and installed an AWE64 Gold.  Previously it has worked under NT
and 9X.  I can't get the card to work under Redhat 5.2.  I changed the
permissions to for /dev/audio to 777 and ran 'sndconfig'.  It detects my
card, but then it fails when the configurator tries to play the test sound.
When I try to manually configure the card, it also fails.  Does anyone have
any ideas?  Thanks.
