[UUG/MLUG] Are there any identd problems to be aware of?

Hey all:

Going through my system logs, I've noticed in about the last week or so a
flurry of identd connections.  Given that before then I wasn't getting too
many connections from identd, I'm now a bit suspicious.

I'm running identd out-of-the-box RedHat 5.2 (pidentd-2.8.2-2), and would
like to keep it open, as one of my users enjoys IRC'ing.  So, has anybody
heard of a security hole in identd?  If not, then any clue why the flood of
recent activity?
